 -The American Medical Association voted in 2013 to recognize obesity as a disease. Obesity is directly correlated with other potentially fatal diseases such as Coronary Artery Disease.

-“It’s estimated that for every 10 pounds of weight gain there is a 20% increase in hypertension.” High blood pressure is a common result of obesity and can lead to heart attacks , strokes and worst cases death.

Eating Habits Aspect

One of the main associations with obesity are eating habits. Eating habits are one of the main issues that leads to obesity. These eating habits are related to 

genetic susceptibility, hunger, and sub-scales.

  • EB traits such as cognitive restraint and disinhibition hunger are most common to obesity
  • Genetic factors within children are apart of being obese. Genes influence bodyweight on children from these EB traits
